How Detailed is Your Follow Up Process?

A Follow Up Process that Increases the Return on Your Marketing Strategy is Revealed

When you put in a complete marketing strategy for your business you should be receiving leads daily.  Prospects interested in finding out more, possibly comparing your prices to a competitor, or maybe they just have a question about what is possible.  Regardless of the inquiry each lead is an opportunity to generate a sale or for some business owners to lose a sale.

When a follow-up process is included as part of your marketing strategy you will increase the yield on all of your marketing efforts

Just think for a moment all of the items that are presented to you each day.  From doing a search on Google, logging in to Facebook and even your drive into work.  How many ads and distractions are you presented with? Now combine those distractions with the events of your life (kids, dry cleaning, vacation, etc).  Do you sometimes forget about a particular task or action item?

The MASSIVE volume of distractions in today’s world makes it necessary for more detailed follow-up.  Making a few calls (or even emails) and hoping your prospects take action will only result in them taking action elsewhere.  To cut through distractions, pique interest, and give your prospects an opportunity to take action means having a detailed follow-up process as part of your overall business marketing strategy.   Consider the following elements involved JUST for follow-up:

  • Email Campaign – An autoresponder email campaign can cover, 60, 90, or even 300+ days of follow up to give the prospect valuable information and give them an opportunity to reach out to you right when they want to buy.
  • Postcard follow up – With dwindling mail volumes you can grab their attention at the end of their day.  A quick, cheap postcard can give them another opportunity to take action.
  • Phone calls – Scripts on calls should be balanced for both leaving messages and live conversations.  A call schedule should be put in place for each type of lead to ensure no opportunities are missed.
  • Direct Mail Pieces – This could be catalogues, a newsletter, or even a questionnaire.

The more detailed your follow-up process the better return you will yield on your lead generation activities.
